Work on Cardboard
In 2020 I borrowed a book on James Castle. When Covid-19 locked down the library, I ended up spending months with the massive collection of images and essays. His use of found materials and quiet lifestyle were a guiding light through the pandemic. While my regular supplies were unavailable, I began painting on the back of cereal boxes and thinking about the relationship between the work I make and the food I consume. Since 2020, I have been painting and creating monotype prints on boxes.
